Presentation

Autonomy and responsibility as moral values are two of the basic pilars on which education has been organized in the histoy Western thought. At the beginning of the XXI century, these values can be found at the heart of contemporary educational debate, where the quality of transmission and learning will contribute to the promotion of citizenship and the development of a more just and equitable democratic community.

The International Conference CITE 2011 is a forum coordinated by the Inter-university Seminar of Theory of Education (SITE), and which this year is organized by the University of Barcelona. The aim is to promote reflection and scientific debate on the values of autonomy and responsibility in the education of citizens and the dissemination of experience and good teaching practices related to these values.

In order to encourage participation without limitation imposed by presential conferences, there is also the option to participate by internet, where for 20 days, researches from arround the world will be able to present their work, network and debate freely on a platform which will be able 24 hours a day.

All accepted articles will be published in a dvd and online on this website with an ISBN. Furthermore, articles considered to be of interest by the Scientific Committee will appear in a special monograph published in Teoría de la Educación. Educación y Cultura en la Sociedad de la Información, which is an open access electronic journal that publishes all articles under a Creative Commons license (BY-NC-ND).

Finally, to share all the scientific results of the congress, all the papers and presentations will be published on the internet under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-Non Derivation license. This means that the author retains the copyright on their work and gives permission for its free and open dissemination, provided that the use is nonprofit and the work is not amended. Thus, while preserving the rights of the author, it helps to allow the widest possible dissemination of ideas and contributes to the dissemination of knowledge
